Ruth Baskett

Program Development Consultant

Prior to her work as a consultant, Ms. Baskett served as the Project Director for the Multilingual Academic Support (MAS) Unit within the Curriculum and Instruction Division at the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE). In this capacity, she spearheaded the MAS Unit's efforts, providing crucial technical assistance and professional development to support English learner programs across Los Angeles County's school districts and charter schools. Ruth's responsibilities at LACOE also extended to curriculum development for significant initiatives such as the Teaching English Learners through the Arts Project (TELA), a federal National Professional Development )grant and the Los Angeles County Bilingual Teacher Consortium (LACBTC) – a California Bilingual Teacher Professional Development Program (BTPDP) grant project.

 

Prior to leading the MAS Unit, she served as a consultant for Title III English Learner and Immigrant Programs.She has also served as a district administrator, school principal and bilingual teacher in Los Angeles county.

  • Social Emotional Learning connections to  Language Acquisition

  • Engaging Multilingual Learners through the Visual and Performing Arts

  • Enhancing Language Acquisition through Physical Movement and Education 

  • Universal Learning Design and Multilingual Learners
