Karin Wiburg, Ed.D.
PROGRAM DEVELOPER AND EVALUATOR
Dr. Karin M. Wiburg works with Wexford staff on the development and evaluation of innovative programs. She is the Professor Emeritus, Learning Design and Technology, as well as a researcher and former director of The Institute for Math and Science Education at New Mexico State University, She served as the Associate Dean for Research for from 2004-2013. She is a specialist in understanding learning, learning design and the expansion of learning environments for meaningful access for all students. She understands the importance of using a systems approach to educational change while focusing on deepening learning and communication around explicit learning events.
Dr. Wiburg’s expertise includes an ability to facilitate learning for all students, with extensive successful experience in facilitating positive achievement for English Language Learners and students who have been left behind in mathematics, literacy, and science learning. She enjoys grant writing and evaluation and has written and received more than $25 million in grants, most recently from the National Science Foundation, during her last 25 years at New Mexico State University. All of her grants over 40 years have been in partnerships between higher education faculty and researchers and pre-k-20 educational districts and schools. She has co-authored four textbooks and has written numerous articles for publication. She has been a frequent presenter at national conferences and is primarily interested in increasing access to rich learning environments.
